Dr. Perry and his staff welcome you to his practice. They have been providing oral surgery care to the people of the Dayton area since 1989. Dr. Perry provides exquisite oral surgery services with a gentle touch and a caring attitude. He is committed to providing you with the most comprehensive, up to date methods of treatment available. He far exceeds the minimum requirements for continuing education established by the Ohio State Dental Board. He regularly attends continuing education conferences at the Kettering Health Medical Center.
Dr. Perry is board certified in oral & maxillofacial surgery (ABOMS), implantology (ICOI) and dental anesthesiology (ADSA). He is trained in periodontal plastic surgery. He is truly unique in our area, having attained such varied and comprehensive areas of training and board certification. He is dedicated to lifelong learning and teaching in our local dental community. He founded the Miami Valley Dental Implant Study Club in 1991. The study club allows him and other experts to teach area dentists how to provide their patients with the latest and most effective techniques for dental implant reconstruction and general patient management. Half of the focus for this study group is in the rapidly changing developments in internal/general medicine. Review topics including the diagnosis and treatment of cardio-pulmonary, endocrine, G.I., kidney, neurological, and muskulo-skeletal diseases. He invites the best local medical specialists/educators to speak at these meetings.
Let Dr. Perry and his capable staff provide your oral surgery needs. The scope of Dr. Perry’s practice includes:
- Exodontia (tooth extraction of erupted and impacted teeth)
- Surgical exposure of impacted teeth to aid eruption
- Apicoectomies
- Removal and biopsy of oral soft tissue and bony lesions
- Placement of dental implants, abutments and temporary restorations
- Surgical modification/bone grafting of extractions sites, the jaw ridges and maxillary sinus floor in preparation for implants and/or dentures
- Periodontal plastic surgery (grafting and/or repositioning of gum tissue), for functional and aesthetic reasons, crown lengthening
- Frenectomies of the lip and/or tongue
- Local and/or nitrous oxide anesthesia, oral sedation, IV sedation and general anesthesia for oral surgery procedures
- Close consultation with area dentists and dental lab technicians to ensure that immediate dentures and implant restorations work/fit correctly the first time
- Close consultation with your physician when needed to manage permanent medical conditions
Dr. Perry’s knowledge of restorative dentistry was honed in his General Practice Residency at the Dallas VA Hospital after he earned his D.D.S. (Doctor of Dental Surgery degree) at Baylor College of Dentistry. He was in the private practice of General Dentistry for four years in College Station, TX. He then completed his Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at The Ohio State University. He continued his training in implant dentistry at the Misch Implant Institute in Dearborn, MI. He trained in Periodontal Plastic Surgery with Dr. Edward P. Allen at The Center for Oral Plastic Surgery in Dallas, TX. He is certified by the American Heart Association in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS). He is a member of the medical staff at The Kettering Medical Center and it’s hospital affiliates. He is a member and Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, and Dayton Dental Society. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Dayton Dental Society.
His civic activities include: He is an Eagle Scout and is a member of the Order of the Arrow, which is the Boy Scouts of America’s life-long service organization. He is a merit badge counselor for the following merit badges: Dentistry, Cooking and Fly Fishing. He is an avid outdoorsman, fly fisher and tyer, dutch oven and bar-b-q chef and camper. He plays the guitar, sings and writes music. He will sometimes even sing to his patients to relieve their anxieties! He is an avid supporter of the following: Kettering Hospital Foundation; Rotary International – Paul Harris Fellow and past president of the Kettering Rotary Club; Boy Scout Foundation; Miami Valley Fly Fishers; Kettering Education Foundation; President’s Club Foundation of the Ohio State University. He is married to Sue Claybaugh Perry (for 51 years) and they have raised 3 daughters who are all married and have 7 grandchildren. He is a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
