Your initial appointment will consist of an exam, a review of essential radiographs (x-rays), and a
consultation explaining your diagnosis and treatment options. Occasionally, surgery can be
performed the same day as the consultation. However, a complex medical history or treatment
plan may require an in-depth evaluation, consultations with both your referring dentist and/or
physician(s) and a second appointment to provide treatment on another day. Occasionally, the
treatment Dr. Perry recommends will be different from what both you and your dentist may have
expected.
We greatly appreciate your bringing some essential information with you as it is imperative that you provide us with the following items at the time of your consultation:
Bringing ALL of this information greatly reduces the time necessary for your appointment and allows us to stay on time with all of our scheduled patients.
IMPORTANT: All patients under the age of 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the consultation visit.
IV Anesthesia Procedures: A preoperative consultation, in-office EKG and physical examination (heart and lung exam with stethoscope) and a signed consent for treatment are mandatory for all patients having IV anesthesia for surgery. Please have nothing to eat or drink for ten hours prior to your surgery. You will also need an adult to stay in the office during your treatment and to drive you home and remain with you until you are fully recovered from anesthesia.
Our comprehensive medical history will reveal any condition that may be of concern prior to surgery (i.e., diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and/or joints, heart attacks &/or surgery, etc.) or if you are currently taking any medication (i.e., heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.).
If your dentist or physician has taken x-rays, they may forward them to our office. If there is not enough time, please bring them to our office yourself. If additional films are necessary, they can be taken at our facility.
Our practice obtains state-of-the-art, full-cranial cone-beam CT (computed tomography) Scans when appropriate. This technology provides 3-D radiographic images for the diagnosis and treatment planning of many complex oral surgery procedures. Undistorted, anatomically correct views of the jaws, teeth and facial bones enable a level of anatomic accuracy not found with 2-D panographic radiographs. With the availability of cone-beam CT technology, our practice is committed to providing innovative, high-quality patient care.
